ZM-6A 6,3/500 lens history
The mirror-meniscus lens with multilayer-coated achromatic. The ZM-6A is a classic sample of Soviet-era engineering and workmanship. It is a 500 mm telephoto mirror lens based on the design of a known Soviet engineer Maksutov.
The ZM-6A was much improved, it is a faster lens (1:6.3 vs. 1:8 in the ZM-5A). It is also lighter, multicoated, and has a built-in sliding lens hood.
Important note: because the lens has a huge overrun at infinity, it can be put on any sort of camera.
The letter "A" in the title means a removable liner. That is, removing a liner, you can put on the other. For example, the Nikon. The letters "ZM" decrypted "zerkal'nyi (Mirror) meniscus."
The main feature of the mirror-meniscus lens is that they give so-called "annular" bokeh, ie circle of confusion in the area will be a circle with a hole in the center.
